This model explores the effects of an intervention on the life expectancy and associated healthcare costs of a mixed group of alcohol users. The intervention hastens reduces the rate at which poeple become addicts, and hastens the rate for addicts to quit.
People in the model may have the following states:
- Never Drinker - blue
- Recreational User - orange
- Addict - red
- Quitter - green
They transition between these states based on probability data from the empirical distributions defined in the "transition-rates" dataset.
Each time step in this model represents half a year.
